Main Street
Walt Disney could have used Grapevine's if he hadn't had his own boyhood home of Marceline, Missouri, as inspiration for his theme park's Main Street U.S.A.. Lined with locally-owned shops, restaurants, and wineries, it's decorated to the nines during the holidays. At the far end of the street is Grapevine Vintage Railroad, and we all know where trains during the holidays go — the North Pole!
Imagine a child's excitement as they experience the magic of Grapevine's North Pole Express! Beautifully decorated Grapevine Vintage Railroad's Victorian rail coaches head into the Texas countryside as elves sing traditional Christmas songs. Mrs. Claus specializes in giving each child a "We Believe" silver Santa bell.
When guests arrive at the North Pole, they walk along a snowy Christmas tree trail to the North Pole where Santa awaits.
Vetro Glassblowing Studio & Gallery is located just across from the train depot; visitors can peruse the beautiful gallery for just the right Christmas gift or, during the holidays, make an ornament with the help of expert glassblowers.
Nash Farm
Nash Farm was established in 1850 by Thomas Jefferson Nash and his wife Elizabeth. The couple migrated from Kentucky and had six children — three born in Kentucky and three in Grapevine.
During the holidays, several special events take place. Guests are invited to make a Victorian Christmas ornament, sing carols, and experience the joys of an old-fashioned Christmas.
Learning how the Nash family celebrated in Victorian times helps guests learn Grapevine history and the roots of many Christmas traditions.
ICE!
Gaylord Texas Resort is another fantastic destination in Grapevine. Its massive atrium features two million twinkling lights, 12,000 ornaments, and a 54-foot-tall Christmas tree.
The festive surroundings include many activities, including the resort's signature ICE!, with displays carved from more than 100 tons of ice created by a team of Chinese artisans.
You pile on a provided heavy parka (bring your gloves) and stroll through a maze of themed ice sculptures throughout a 14,000-square-foot exhibit hall kept at 9 degrees.
