The Azores were not a place I'd considered before reading your post this morning, Rob.  I went to my favorite sources, AirBnB and Streetview and was pleasantly surprised.  I found a number of rentals, including small houses, for under $40 a night and how can you not love a town, Ponta Delgada, with mosaic patterns in the sidewalks!  To top it off, there are 2 tea estates on the island, one, Gorreana, since 1883.

With Portugal beckoning, maybe a flight to São Miguel is also in my future.  Thanks Rob, Gumbo's very own air travel watchdog!
