Gore Valley Trail, Vail

The Gore Valley Trail runs through the heart of Vail and allows you to take as long or short a hike as you want.  The trail begins in the eastern part of Vail and descends through the town towards the Eagle River.  Almost your entire journey is downhill if you head west, so it's an easy walk in this direction -- much less easy if you walk uphill and east.  Nice to have a ride waiting for you to take you back to your starting point if you're so inclined.

It's a very well demarcated and maintained trail that you'll share with bicyclists, joggers and other hikers.  Part of the trail passes through the ski areas of Vail, part of it through business sections of Vail Village and residential sections of Vail, but mostly the trail follows the natural scenery of Gore Creek.

There are many pretty vistas along the way, and you're almost certain to spot some people fly-fishing. The colors in the fall are beautiful as the aspens taken on their golden foliage.

Dogs are also able to use this trail with their human companions but must be kept on leash.

The photos are presented more or less in sequence as we descend into the western part of Vail Valley.
