Europe: Yet another night sleeper

The revival of night sleeper trains in Europe over the past few years seems to still be picking up steam: The service between Prague and Zurich has become so popular another Prague-to-Zurich route is being added to take up the slack.

The new train, a joint venture of the Czech, Austrian, German and Swiss railways, will follow a route that crosses Germany and will have stops in Dresden, Leipzig, Frankfurt and Basel. The existing line skips Germany and operates through Linz, Austria.

Fares start at €49.90 for a bed in a six-bed compartment, with more expensive options for compartments with 1, 2, 3 or 4 beds, as well as private compartments with ensuite toilets and showers.

Other recent additions to the night network include a Swedish route from Stockholm that connects in Brussels with Eurostar, allowing a less-than-a-day connection to London.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
