Elvis vigil survives pandemic

Despite major cultural and social events being canceled all over the world, one event dear to the hearts of many has made it to another year—the annual vigil at Elvis Presley's Graceland mansion on the anniversary of his death in 1977.

While the event usually draws thousands of fans for a candlelight vigil that often has gone through the night, pandemic rules brought this year's down in size, with reservations required and only 720 visitors allowed on-site for the event last weekend.

Fans were required to wear masks and to keep an 8-foot distance between groups. Some fans even made the trip to Memphis without reservations, just to be near.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
