Can it be ?? smart airlines are upping Economy Class

Responding to pressure from Asian and Middle Eastern carriers, it seems that European and American airlines are starting to pay more (?some) attention to those passengers in their Economy cabins.  Seems they are finally realizing that small things can go a long way to making a long flight more comfortable.   Read about some of the improvements being planned in this link.

There was a time in the early days of business class when it was simply a section in the front of economy, more like premium economy today.  The gap has certainly grown over the years with business class getting swankier and economy losing serious ground.  I've often wondered where the bottom would be.  We can only hope that today's steerage is the bottom and the creep will be in the other direction although I have no illusions that up will be a more difficult road than down.  It always is.

I agree with the sentiment of Garfield the Cat, who moans to the airline attendant

" May I please be upgraded to some sort of class ? !".

Surely, things can only improve from the current mindset of treating the human passengers as bulky, troublesome cargo.
