I enjoyed watching wrestling on television as a child. Back then it all seemed very real to me. One of the "bad guy" wrestlers wore a mask like you see on the left above, and assumed a Mexican accent. So to me, this became a Mexican wrestler's mask. I later learned that almost all wrestlers in Mexico wear these masks and adapt a persona (a type of acting, as is all wrestling). For a wrestler to be "unmasked" in a fight is the end of that persona.
I was surprised when visiting an artist's studio in Buenos Aires that he shared my fascination with the same style of mask. How could I resist but capture a photo of "El Diablo's" headgear?
