I'm a window-seat fanatic; nothing can tempt me to move away from the view when I fly, and daytime flights are my chance for some aerial photography. Usually, the views are of notable mountains, recognizable cities, large rivers and the like.
But on one late summer flight from Barcelona to Madrid (I know; these days I take the train, but this was before the high-speed line opened), my pictures resembled abstract art as much as they do landscape.
While it's true you can recognize patterns of agriculture and residence, and make assumptions about what kinds of crops and what sorts of farms, it just seems easier for the moment to think of it as a modern art gallery.
