A Robin in the Park

I tell people I'm a bird watcher, and I am. I admire their feathers, their activity and their usual unconcern for any stray humans who happen to be around. But, unlike real birdwatchers, I don't know much about most of them!

But I do know that this handsome specimen is a robin and not a robin. It's what we in America call a robin, although it's not really related to the British bird whose name it was given by early European arrivals in North America.

As for local habitat, the robin was sharing "my backyard," Prospect Park, in Brooklyn.
