Probably not a seat you’d voluntarily want.
Let’s face it. Traveling by air is very safe. You’re more likely to die from an allergic reaction, like to a bee sting, than from a plane crash. And by far the most important thing in surviving is crash is the overall state of the aircraft. Obviously a relatively intact landing, say on the Hudson River, will be highly survivable.
Time magazine analyzed plane crashes from the 1980s through present day and studied where passengers who survived were seated. From this perspective, the most survivable seats were those in the middle of a row, towards the back of an airplane.
