A wallaby that escaped a Dutch zoo in February is still on the loose, but zoo staff are not especially worried, saying “The wallaby is doing just fine. The animal is eating grass and other greens and can live well on that.”
The marsupial, native to Australia and New Guinea, is described as both shy and fast, and nearly two dozen attempts at capture have failed. It was last spotted on a rural road by a newspaper reporter. It was still in the general area of the Veldhoven Zoo it escaped from.
It’s not the only Wallaby that’s been in the Dutch news lately; another escaped wallaby, owned by a private individual, was recaptured only three weeks ago near Middenmeer.
