TSA PreCheck is about to get even faster at dozens of U.S. airports as the Transportation Safety Administration quadruples the number of airports where passengers can zip through checkpoints without having to pull out their ID or boarding pass.
It’s slowly built up to 15 airports since it was first introduced in late 2024; by spring another 50 or more airports will be on line.
The program, called Touchless ID, uses a quick facial scan that’s matched up with on-file ID photos to verify passengers’ identities and boarding status. At most, it requires a brief moment before passing on to the lanes for carry-on scanning.
PreCheck members who want to opt in do so in their airline profiles; enrolment requires uploading a passport image.
