TSA screeners at Los Angeles International Airport are used to finding a wide variety of banned items in suitcases—but it’s usually excess liquids, suspicious gift packages or at worst a gun.
But even the most experienced were surprised a few days ago when a woman’s carry-on turned out to be filled with three knives, a pepper spray canister, two replica guns and 82 fireworks. Other than the fireworks, the other items are permitted in checked bags, but not carry-ons.
TSA notified the airport police, who ‘interviewed’ the passenger, who had been on her way to Philadelphia and the airport police bomb squad confiscated the fireworks. TSA did not say whether the woman was further detained.
