“The Thumb”, Koblenz

I’m not sure if this is one of the world’s largest fingers, although it might be in the running as it’s just over 2 meters tall.

It’s a large bronze reproduction of a thumb, named “Le Pouce” or “Der Daumen” (The Thumb).  It was created by French artist César Baldaccini and is a copy of his own thumb.  It’s a quirky and iconic symbol of Koblenz.

The statue sits outside a museum of modern art.  The church you see in the background is the Basilica of St. Castor (a minor basilica).
