We spotted this old fire truck sitting beside the road in the small Montana town of Noxon. It was a beautifully preserved truck and we stopped to have a closer look at it.
The truck is a Ford F-1 of about 1947 vintage. Its signage indicated it was from the “Old Lakeport Road Fire Department” and another sign which said “Howe”. I thought it would be easy to do an internet search and find out more about it, but that was only partially helpful.
Regarding “Old Lakeport Road Fire Dept”, the best I could come up with is a road of that name in Lakeport, California — except that there is no known fire dept on it.
Regarding the name “Howe”, this likely refers to fire truck equipment. Below I’ve quoted a result from Google’s AI:
Considering that this truck is almost 80 years old, it is a beautifully maintained piece of history! Well worth the stop.
