Taroudant’s city walls date back to the 16th century. These historic ramparts are extensive at around 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) long and contain nine gates that are still in use. The walls are a testament to the city’s historic importance.

The walls of the city suffered significant damage in the earthquake of 2023, with lots of cracking, as you can see in these photos. The damage had not yet been repaired when I visited in 2024, though I imagine they have been restored by now.
