Thai ‘water curtain’ turns visitor attraction

A dam built by Thailand as part of a scheme to supply water for agriculture has turned into a popular visitor attraction, with hundreds of visitors wading into its outflow for fun and selfies.

The Pang Sawan Water Curtain, whose purpose is to slow free-flowing water for farming use, has drawn attention because of its picturesque curtain of water that resembles waterfalls, as well as its lush natural surroundings.

The influx of visitors has been a boon for the local economy, with stalls set up near the dam selling seasonal fruit, vegetables and handmade goods.
