Located west of Shimla, India, in the Himalaya foothills, is the Tara Devi Temple. As I approach the temple, located 1,851 feet above sea level, my Exodus Adventure Travels tour guide, Anil, tells me it is believed to be over 250 years old and has a rich history and cultural significance.

It is dedicated to Goddess Tara, the goddess of stars, a revered figure in Hinduism.
Beyond the temple is a large area, surrounded by an iron fence and covered in bright red and gold scarves. The scarves are often offered as a symbol of devotion and respect to the goddess.

From this platform, visitors are offered stunning views of the foothills.

The temple is a popular pilgrimage site, attracting devotees year-round. It is one of the most famous sightseeing places in Shimla and has a divine atmosphere that attracts locals and a large crowd of tourists during festive seasons.

Surrounded by a mesmerizing view of lofty mountains, pine forests, and lush greenery, the temple’s tranquil setting makes you forget your day-to-day worries. Located only 11 km (about 7 miles) from the city center, this religious site is no less than a paradise for experience seekers.
