Tanjung Dawai: A Peaceful Day

If the pandemic taught me anything at all, then it HAS to be the fact that when I open my eyes and soul, I need not travel very far to find joy and beauty—they are both right here at my very doorstep. So one weekend, I just decided to go on a long, long drive, following the road signs and not my GPS, for a change.

Tanjung Dawai is a small projection of land into the sea, offering a small beach and all the other things that come with being at the coast, including thrift shops and food stalls.

Of course, it being day time, both were non-operational, so I just walked on the soft sand soaking in the tranquility and observing the interesting foliage. A few children running up and down playfully completed the sense of ‘joie de vivre,’ while the sun shone magnificently overhead. I also halted at a few places to take in the glorious scenery, and then had to make a dash for the nearest gas station as my fuel gauge fell to almost zero.
