The TG audience has become very proficient at solving our travel puzzles! One of Bangkok’s great temple complexes.
Amongst the most magnificent sights in Bangkok is the Wat Phra Kaew temple, or the Temple of the Jade Buddha. It is a riot of gilded and colorful figures in a very concentrated area within the grounds of the King’s Grand Palace in Bangkok.
“Walking markets” have become an important feature of life in the three main islands in the Gulf of Thailand – Koh Tao, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. Usually held in the early evenings, they come alive is a bustle of colours, music, chatter and smells.
Thai families love to ‘snack on the hoof’ and it is this most enjoyable custom that has given rise to the magnificent selection of street food that is on offer at the evening “walking markets” that we discovered on three of the islands in the Gulf of Thailand.
Wat Pho is the Temple of the Reclining Buddha statue in Bangkok, adjoining the Grand Palace in Phra Nakhon district. This statue generally is thought to represent the dying Buddha, about to attain Nirvana.
Today’s highlighted photos are of Thailand’s Phi Phi islands – countless fortress-like small islands situated between Phuket and the mainland. These islands have been slowly and beautifully carved over many years and have a narrower base than top.
On a quiet side street in the Silom district of this dynamic Southeast Asian capital is a peaceful oasis which, after a number of visits to the city, I only found by accident.
Cruise Critic, recently acquired by TripAdvisor, has added a new feature (developed by another company recently acquired by TripAdvisor). The tool, called PriceDrop, helps cruise shoppers find not the advertised prices, but the prices paid by others in the past 7 days.
