Palouse Falls State Park, Washington
Palouse Falls is a beautiful 200″ (60m) waterfall in southeastern Washington state, situated in the rolling grasslands, wheat fields and eroded lava formations of the Palouse.

We had ascended the western base of the volcano this past half week, had hiked through jungle and moorland, and were now entering Kilimanjaro’s alpine desert region.

Cape Point is a peninsula extending south of Cape Town, ending in the Cape of Good Hope (where old mariners from Europe used to take a sharp left as they headed to the Far East). On the shores of this peninsula is a small town where you have the chance to see a large breeding colony of jackass (African) penguins.

The last safari destination we visited in Tanzania was Lake Manyara National Park.

In all my travels, visiting the Ngorongoro Crater remains one of my most precious experiences.

It takes a l-o-o-o-ong time to fly from the western USA to Tanzania, at the limits of my travel endurance really. But I’m about to head out on one of my greatest adventures.

It’s hard not to like a Maui sunset! I’m fond of this image because it was taken from the summit of Haleakala, looking down at the sunset and thick layer of clouds that surrounded the mountain and obscured the Pacific Ocean and Maui.
