One of those moments we’ve all lived through—someone with phone on full volume having a loud conversation with someone in a public space—came to an end we’ve all dreamed of for a passenger on French railroad SNCF.
The incident took place in a waiting room at the station in Nantes. After refusing to turn his speaker off and quiet down when requested by SNCF staff, the passenger was given a €150 fine, which increased to €200 because of late payment.
The passenger, identified only as ‘David’ told TV channel BFM that he had been talking to his sister, and that when he argued, the fine was imposed. He plans to fight the fine in court.
A company spokesman told Le Parisien that he was issued with the fine for disturbing other passengers, saying: “If he had played music at a high volume, it would have been the same thing.”
