Last fall my wife and I spent a day in Baker City, in northeastern Oregon. While we were wandering the streets we spotted this car, a Ford Falcon. I think it’s about 1960 vintage, the first year this model was made. The vehicle seems to have been much-used and was likely still frequently driven. It’s a little banged up and rusty, but still had its original interior.
The Ford Falcon was the first compact made in North America by one of the big three car manufacturers. The model was discontinued in 1970.
Hello! This is us! Glad you enjoyed Beautiful Baker City and enjoyed spotting our car. We are the second owners of this 1960 Ford Falcon. It was our commuter car in Nashville, TN and now enjoys short trips around town here in Oregon. We love all things vintage and keeping history alive with usable items. Someday she’ll get a new paint job and a redo of the interior as close to original as possible, but for now we have a whole gaggle of children to feed and buy shoes for so we just dream of the restorations and enjoy the cruising as is.
Thanks for this extra information, Elizabeth. We appreciate the extra back story.
The car is cool as is, and I also love using old things as they were intended. I wish you and the vehicle a long and happy relationship!
And Baker City is a very cool town!
10 years in and going strong!
