This lovely car is 1947 Pontiac Streamliner 4-Door Sedan. It was built by General Motors during the post-World War II car boom. It has a ‘torpedo’ or fastback rear slope, which was quite popular in the late 1940s.

The car is identified by a stylized chrome “Silver Streak” hood trim trailing into the prominent Indian-head hood ornament. The car was offered in two door sedan coupe, 4 door sedan, and station wagon models.

These cars came equipped with either a 239 cubic-inch 6 or a more powerful 249 cubic-inch 8 cylinder engine (by far the more popular of the two engines).

The car was a commercially successful model, with almost 130,000 made in the 1947 model year. Still, you don’t see many of them around anymore. This one was spotted in western Montana.
