My husband and I were visiting and heard about the Shoney’s Big Boy statue. We had both grown up enjoying Bob’s Big Boy’s in California so we decided to check it out. We quickly learned that the Shoney’s company actually started in Charleston, West Virginia. I had no idea before this trip, lol.
Today there is a Shoney’s Big Boy Museum attraction with memorabilia, a statue, and a plaque from the original restaurant. The statue stands on a 14-foot pillar. It is pretty cool to see and read the plaque and check out all the old pictures and such. Definitely worth a short stop and visit when in the area.
