Sept 27, 2018: A Visit to the Kwalin Dun Cultural Center, Whitehorse

During my recent trip to Whitehorse, on the Canada Day Weekend in July, my rambling around the city brought me to the Kwalin Dun Cultural Center, a new addition to the city since my last visit.  The place is quite lovely — a modern building adjoining the Yukon River, with a distinct aboriginal touch.

It was bustling with activity so I wandered in.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that a special event was being held over the weekend — a gathering of sorts, with live entertainment, food, activities and exhibits.  This event was known as the Adaka Cultural Festival and I spent an enjoyable hour exploring the facility, listening to the music and admiring the beautiful handicrafts.

I ended my visit enjoying a nice piece of bannock.  If you don’t know what that is, google it.  It was delicious.

A few more views from this fun event…

As I left, I spotted an appropriately themed mural on a near-by building.
