The last point is critically important. In Australia, when you get the American ESTA online it states quite clearly that you don’t have to carry a hard copy. And indeed you don’t need one for competent airlines. They recognise it in the system when you check in and it isn’t even discussed. But my wife and I recently flew Volaris - quite the worst airline I’ve ever flown on - returning from Costa Rica with a stopover in LA. They didn’t seem to know how ESTA works and kept demanding to see our...
