I think I'd have to say, probably not. Neither was perfect and we're always looking for some sort of perfection, aren't we? I am certainly, not a member of the "it's only a place to sleep" club. It's my home for the time I'm there & even on a paltry budget, I'm fussy. I liked the 1st place, in part because I had it to myself nearly the entire 2 weeks. But the bed wasn't great. The 2nd place (located on booking.com, my other favorite site) was very comfortable but the noise would rule it...

I love watching butterflies fly about and land on everyone -- especially children. It's such a simple pleasure! Never knew about this place, and it's always good to add another stop to one's (evergrowing) bucketlist. Thanks, Samantha!

Thanks for the message DrFumblefinger. You are right. I really enjoyed watching the kids get so excited when one would land on them. Of course that scared them off, but it was still fun. Glad you enjoyed the post and was able to add to your bucket list. I know mine is huge and keeps getting longer and longer, lol.

There's a fair bit of competition for Canadians at the Buffalo airport. My cousin lives near Niagara Falls and often uses Buffalo as her preferred departure airport. Given her close proximity, it makes a lot more sense than driving to Toronto, which is about as popular with Canadians as JFK and LAX are with Americans.

Terrassencafe im Hundertwasserhaus. And to read her interview with the Kurier newspaper, the owner, Galina Pokorny, might not be a very genial host anyway, although she did agree that no other cafe was doing the same. Here's some more of what she said: "Tourists - always electricity, electricity, electricity. Sorry but who is going to pay me for it? ... I run a cafe, not an internet cafe." "It's getting more and more extreme. People come and think everything is accessible and free... You...

We thought the Slea Head on the Dingle Peninsula was one of our five most beautiful places on the planet. We stopped at the Slea Head Cafe for a latte, a brownie, and the VIEW. It is GORGEOUS. We just sat in the sun and gazed at the Great Blaskett Islands.

Three more comments concerning Dingle: 1. Leaving the wharf/tourist area in Dingle and walking uphill into the central part of the town was very interesting in that we could interact with the locals and leave the hustle & bustle of the lower part of town. We stopped at a neat cafe for coffee called the Frog St. Cafe and we were the only non-locals in the place. 2. Between Dingle town and Slea Head is the Stone House Restaurant, which overlooks the bay and an ancient fort. The restaurant...

Great pics of great cars. I will put the Tampa Bay Museum on my list of things to see. Additionally, The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky is awesome, as well. It includes a 50's diner cafe featuring period stuff for lunch. Less than a mile away is the Corvette assembly plant, which offers tours. This is the only place in the whole wide world where Corvettes are assembled. Both are definitely worth a visit. The National Packard Museum is located In Warren, Oh and is small, but...

Yes, they are all full size boats. Say an average of 4 meters (13 ft) each? Vegas is becoming a great place to see modern art.

The word "audacious" comes to mind and, I think, appropriately. I think it's always been one of Art's jobs to make the viewer's say "What the hell?", and public art of this scale especially. It makes one want to meet the person whose mind conceived it. Good work, Nancy Rubins. ("crafted" indeed, DrF.)

I enjoy Vegas in small snippets -- 2-3 days every few years is about perfect. Great place to meet friends, eat well and enjoy a show. Gamble if you want, though I find it too painful to have my wallet stripped that way. I like to go there in the spring and fall so I can head into the surrounding desert...

Re: The Hottest New Restaurant in Paris is...

DrFumblefinger ·
I noticed that fast food has definitely "taken hold" in Paris when I visited this past summer. There are still plenty of fine French restaurants, but seems the French, like people in many other countries, like an inexpensive, quick meal from time to time. I'm all about freedom of choice for people and am glad they have new options open to them. When in Paris, I'll not visit Burger King or McDonalds, preferring instead the cafe scene or the cooking of some of its great chefs.

The Stage Stop is one of those buildings that's become invisible, even while being half the commercial district of San Gregorio. Maybe this illustrates the fact that we see things differently when we're in the picture zone, that it was the first time I really looked at it. I assume it was a gas station, looks like a pump rusting there on the left. But even I'm not old enough to have seen it in action.

Full of charm and colour DrF. I suppose if the tourist trade brings in bus loads of dollars then you have to keep up appearances. Don't want to frighten folks away. I'm a cautious but not paranoid traveler, GarryRF, but the warnings from the portenos were so frequent and so intense, you'd be a fool not to pay attention to them. The area around Caminito is well policed (dozens of police around), so I wouldn't worry about going there. But if you don't look like a native, best not to wander the neighborhood. La Boca is charming. But it has a rough edge to it. Be careful if you go.
