An excellent and useful post, Marilyn! Part of how I pack depends on where I'm traveling. For example, if I'm on a road trip with a car that has a large trunk, I don't really need to economize with my packing. I can take everything along that I might need and not have to deal with the hassle of laundry and such while on the road. Ottawa is a perfect spring and fall getaway destination, PortMoresby. Like many things Canadian it's pleasant and understated. You don't really get the impression when here that one of the world's most successful economies is governed in this peaceful small city. Summers can be hot and humid, but May and late Sept/Oct are special. I'd probably head there late Sept/early Oct to enjoy the colorful tree displays.

US Immigration is a bit of a hassle, although most Canadians receive about a smooth a ride as possible. In most Canadian airports, you can actually clear immigration within Canada, rather than the USA (infinitely preferable because the lines are so much shorter). My thoughts Car # 1 1967-68 Dodge Charger with a 426 Hemi. Not necessarily aftermarket - you could get it as an option. The high rise and the blower were added. They came with dual quads. Car # 2 Most likely 1969 Camaro Super Sport (SS) Coupe. 396 engine. What's special about these beauts ? > They are worth a lot of money these days $ 30 K - $ 40 K.

As you can see from the above photos, each parking spot has its own electric outlet because of the need to use a block heater in the coldest winter months. This little buggy plugs into a standard outlet. No special adapter or anything needed.

Yes, for the charging of most serious electric cars a special outlet needs to be created (220V I believe, with special plug in shape). It has the advantage of allowing a quicker charge of the batteries.

I usually try to get a seat in a zone where I'm guaranteed bin space. I usually have a laptop bag for my computer and travel documents, which goes under the seat in front of me. The rest of the items, including spare eyeglasses, camera, medications and clothes go into my carry-on. I can't take the small risk of these items getting lost so I need that carryon with me. Time will tell to see if this will work. In that particular area of the city, the worse offenders are usually (1)too drunk to notice until it is too late or (2) are transient. Technically speaking, it's not a "best of..." but a "world's most stunning" list. I understand I may be splitting hairs with that argument. In any event, one needs to make an exception for really valuable lists, like libraries or books. There's something special about a great book and a great bookshop. Hi Garry. Regarding your comment, I think the Victorian era was one that was "special" in world history. It was a time when the sun never set on the British empire and the British influence on the world (mostly good in my opinion -- a common language, parliamentary goverance, etc) was at its peak. I don't think we'll have an Elizibethian II era nor a Charles era.

I'd definitely agree about booking.com They generally seem to have a much deeper inventory than Expedia, including the small local hotels I like. I also appreciate the fact that most of the bookings don't expect me to pay in advance and allow free cancellation. Often, too, the price I pay through booking.com with those privileges is the same that Expedia offers as a "special" that must be pre-paid! The gorge is actually extremely narrow, and it is only from the air that you get a full perspective of the Falls, as you have too much mist to have a full grasp of the whole. Yes, I took an helicopter, and it was an amazing flight. From Zambia, you can also take an Ultra Light Flight, which must be even more amazing. I didn't cross into Zambia and regretted it afterwards. I would also have loved to jump in the Devil's Pool on the Zambian side, but I think there was too much water at that...
