There's something weirdly wonderful about these outsize sculptures, like this one, and Paul Bunyan, and...it may not meet the standards of high art, but it certainly represents important emotions!

Walleye is the best tasting pan (fried) fish I've ever had. Not hard to make. Lightly breaded, salt and pepper, and fried in butter or canola oil. Largemouth bass are almost as good.

I love these types of sculptures, how fun! What I want to know Ottoman, is where is the photo of you in front of the sculpture? Am I the only adult who gets a goofy photo taken? Here's mine in front of the Worlds Largest Lobster .

Thanks for your feedback gentlemen. DrFumblefinger...I agree that walleye (aka pickerel) are probably the best pan fried fish I have ever had. To anyone who has never tried this fish, treat yourself by cooking some up yourself or try it at a restaurant. PHeymont and TravelRob, I'm glad that you also enjoy these types of sculptures. You said it well Paul...there is something "weirdly wonderful" about them. In terms of your question Rob, the reasons I'm not in any of the pictures is...

These sites all say "Sausalito". Best guess, Kappas Harbor or Waldo Point, where Hwy 101 meets Bridgeway, the main drag through Sausalito. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/525584218987357033/ http://www.panoramio.com/photo/65281312 https://laundryonsundaes.wordpress.com/tag/parks/

Re: Jan. 30, 2016: Houseboat, Marin County, CA
I've looked at the three sites (which all appear to show the same boat), but I think none of them is this one, unless a lot has happened in the years since I took the picture. The roofline is different, and this one lacks the steel stovepipe the other one shows. I'm fairly sure the spot where I took the picture was well out of town, but of course, boats can move...

The roof line is different because your photo is taken from the opposite end. There are so many other distinctive details, the style of mooring for instance, as well as the dock, and the missing stovepipe is behind leaves in yours. I'm also somewhat familiar with the area, having lived twice in Sausalito. I know of no other houseboats on the way to Muir Woods. Give up.

Re: January 31, 2017: Ye Olde Chip Truck, Kenora, Ontario
It's great to see real chips and vinegar making a comeback ! I often get folks in the US teasing me over the way we used to say Ye old shop. Just to put the record straight - and I'm sorry to disappoint so many - we never did. When the Guttenberg Printing Press arrived in England from Germany in 1440 there was no Greek letter "THETA" pronounced "th", so the nearest Look-alike letter was a Gothic "Y". So that soon replaced Theta in the printed word. But always pronounced The.

I grew up in Redwood City and went to Sequoia High School. I know why RC was named RC - for the port from which coastal redwoods were shipped. But now I must question the name of the high school there, if the closest Sequoias are indeed 100+ miles to the east. Hmm.

Thanks Jonathan L. Loved the Moby Grape poster .... one of my favorite tunes with Omaha that few ever remember. I also hate to say it, because you hear it all the time, but I lived near Erie PA, not a long drive to Woodstock and my fraternity brother had tickets and invited me. I had to work (two jobs to pay for my college tuition) and I said, and always regret saying NO. In 1979, I convinced our local theater to show Woodstock at the midnight show for the 10-year anniversary and it was...
