Re: How loooong does it take to get to your airport?
London was mentioned, actually...Heathrow Express in 15 minutes to Paddington. There's also a slightly-slower less expensive version. Skipped the CAT in Vienna last month, but the regular S-Bahn only took 28 minutes... Paris...hate to say anything bad about Paris, but RER is NOT a great way to do that...needs a true express.

Re: How do you buy your travel?
Few more thoughts, following HistoryDigger and DrFumblefinger... 1. Definitely check all your affiliations on car rental; after years of getting better price through AAA than any other way I knew, I recently found that going to the same vendors through USAA (my car insurance) gets me even better. 2. Not only does Priceline have good pricing on cars, I've often found I can get 30-40% lower through their blind-bidding (Name Your Own Price) service. 3. RailEurope is something of a red flag for...

Vienna
In July, 2015 we are thinking about flying into Vienna before moving onto Italy for my annual pilgrimage to the old country. We have never been to Vienna, but we are planning to spend five nights there. Is this too much, too little, or on-point? We...

Making Connections For Connecting Flights
The other day we bought tickets on Delta from "da Burgh" -JFK-Paris-Vienna. We have a 1 hour 35 minute layover at CDG to make the connection with Air France to Vienna. After extensive travel in Europe this is the first time to make a connection onto...

Not-so-famous museums with great exhibits
Since we're off from school for spring break, we've had time to catch up on a few exhibits at local museums...but not the big and famous, such as the Met or MoMA. Here are a few of interest, and one we haven't been to yet, but will! Neue Galerie has an exhibit with a dual purpose: reproducing the infamous Nazi exhibit "Degenerate Art" of 1937, and commenting on its effects, both then and now. Also at the Galerie, which focuses on German and Austrian art of the last century, is an exhibition...

Re: Making Connections For Connecting Flights
The time should work, since Delta and Air France are close at CDG. Your NY flight, whether it's operated by Delta or Air France, will arrive at Terminal 2E, which serves international routes. You'll be guided/herded to the Immigration queue to enter the Schengen area. Depending on your status with your airline, they may give you a voucher for the SkyPriority lane that moves faster. Once you're through, that's it for passports, because your flight to Vienna is an inter-Schengen (domestic)...

Re: Vienna
I think you're about spot on with 5 nights. A few more days wouldn't hurt, but you can do the city justice in 5 days. Lots to see and do, most in the inner city, so good that you've situated here. That way you can do as much or little as you like. Most of what there is to see here relates to the Hapsburg dynasty, and some activities require advanced ticket purchases (eg. Opera, famous Lipzinger stallions, Vienna boy's choir, etc). As far as cruises go, I'd really recommend the cruise down to...
