I've visited the Bacardi plant too, and remember being quite impressed by it. As I recall, the original was in Cuba and the family moved to P.R. to escape Castro. And I'm proud to see you standing after those free samples! Thanks for the post.

And not the first time for a toilet as a museum exhibit. The Guggenheim in New York last year had a solid-gold working replica by Maurizio Cattelan, entitled America, that could be used by visitors. And, famously, in 1917, Marcel Duchamp challenged concepts of art and esthetics by exhibiting a 'readymade,' a standard urinal turned on its edge, signed as if by an artist, and labeled... Fountain.

I keep a toilet roll on my work bench. Perfect size for drying WD 40 off my machine parts and grease off my fingers. Everyone who spots it says it's disgusting. Maybe I should call it Bathroom Tissue !

We've been replacing CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lighting) with new LED (Light Emitting Diode) type bulbs for over a year. They have multiple shapes to suit your needs. They use less than half the electricity of a CFL and last longer too. They have the added advantage of achieving full light in <0.5 seconds. Prices are dropping for all economy bulbs.

A nice conclusion to an interesting and helpful series, Samantha. Thanks! Some people fund their travels by living very simply on the road -- keeping expenses to a few bucks a day. That might work for them, but I travel to experience a place. And that means admissions to attractions, eating good quality meals, staying at a decent hotel etc. I'm old enough that an element of comfort and civilization are important to me. I'd rather live simply at home than on the road, and these tips provide...

Some more great tips Samantha! For people with jobs that offer overtime, I've always found that is a great way to save up money quickly. It's easier to stay motivated working extra when you know the extra amount on your check funds your travel.

Glad to see that you guys enjoyed the series. It was an interesting and eye opening post. Since I wrote this, we even cut cable and are using OTA and Netflix. Saving us about $100 a month. Not much, but it's a $100 closer to living my freedom lifestyle I am working toward. Thanks again for the comments. Have a great weekend.
