The Cenotaph in London is a remembrance of all the war dead from all the British Empire. Canada, India, Australia, South Africa and many more. They all send servicemen to represent their own countries in a march past. Delhi has a lot to offer in terms of interesting sites. HOWEVER, the air pollution is appalling, particularly in the winter. We will be in Delhi in March - when things should start to get a little better - but we have cut our stay there to a mere 24 hours. We would have liked to re-visit some places like Humayun's Tomb or the Jama Mosque, but in the end decided that we could not face the atrocious smog again. We will now leave on the earliest convenient train south.

Actually, you're both right...it just depends on when the visit was. French museums in recent years have shifted photography rules; at one time Musée d'Orsay and the Louvre were on opposite ends of the issue. Eventually, in 2014, the Ministry of Culture and a group of museum officials worked out a charter that encourages visitors to respectfully take pictures in museums and monuments, but allows measures such as banning selfie sticks, or pictures on loan from owners or museums who refuse...

My first Grandchild will be 1 year old on March 20th next week. The party venue has been booked for a 10am start. Then all outside at 10.30 for the eclipse. That will keep all the kids happy. But it took some planning ! My first total eclipse was in the Dom Rep. years ago. I was on a sun lounger. It went dark. It went cold. All the ants and creepy crawlies of the night came out. Thousands of them ! Very memorable.

Hi Karl, just back from USCAP trip. The one in Ontario Place actually happens in summer and the exhibition lasts several weeks each year (I noticed this year, Ontario Place is undergoing a major renovation). The festival also happens in other North America cities like this year's "Arizona Chinese Lantern Festival - February 19-22 and February 26-March 1 ~ 5PM to 10PM Each Night".

Ryanair has also been using a "softer" sell which seems to be working. An article recently in the Guardian points out a 28% growth rate (comparing March 2015 to 2014), a truly impressive gain! I've never flown Ryanair and before I would I would need to talk with someone like Rob and Garry to make sure some of the perceptions I've got about them aren't fact-based anymore.

Actually, there were a fair few others around, but not crowded. But that's pretty normal spring runoff; the picture below, taken exactly 10 years before on March 15, 2010, shows what happened when there was a snowier winter, and the one below that is from 1996, when there was a January blizzard followed immediately by enough temperature to melt it in one or two days. Always interesting how airlines are compared for size (most passengers? most routes? most planes?). That's the case here, because actually Emirates doesn't have the largest fleet, but does have the most wide-body planes; it's nearly the only type they fly.
