I know what you mean. Maligne Lake is a beautiful area to see and the tour out to Spirit Island is certainly worth it. Most interesting Garry. I still have Cuba on my list as 'yet to be visited'. I'm not a great beach lover - a few days are fine - is there really a lot to be seen in the country as a whole if you take away the Ché-related hyped locations? Is it really worth making the effort right now before things change as they surely will? Unfortunately I still have a load of other places that are tugging at my sleeve for early visits...

It's a great photoessay of a special place, Travellinn, thanks for sharing these wonderful photos with us. I generally just traveled through Galle, never stopping much except perhaps to look around for an hour or get something to eat. The fort is very impressive, a massive structure of rock and coral. The last time I visited Galle was just after the great tsunami of 2004. The town was one of the most damaged by that tragedy as several massive waves washed through it. Hundreds were killed or...

How did you discover Galle ? Did you read of its existence prior to your travels ? Or merely stumble upon it and get the urge to explore further. It appears to be untouched by tourism - or is it on the tourist itinerary ? After all these invaders what language do they speak now ? Good collection of photos - gives a real taste of this town.

DrFumblefinger, then you should absolutely spend some time in Galle next time you visit Sri Lanka! GarryRF, the plan was originally to go to Unawatuna (30 min away) staying there and doing a day trip to Galle. But after doing a little bit research online, we found out that Unawatuna would not fit us, and ended up doing the opposite. On our daytrip to Unawatuna we certainly got confirmed that staying in Galle was a much better option. See my thought about that on...

One of my favorites, too...and after about 10 visits over the years, it's still a highlight of every trip...and I find more hidden gems every time. And while the cafe, with its roof views over Paris, is very pleasant and reasonable, once in a lifetime it's worth making a reservation for the restaurant in the former ballroom and feeling a bit of the Belle Epoque (without reminders of how badly things went after)

Yes this trip some places I stayed that I thought I'd have internet didn't, so I really noticed the public Wi- Fi. Also that ferry strike happened when I already checked out and left me scrambling to find a different route. So a data plan for me would of been really worth the money.

Maybe you would get used to the mask? I have no clue how the corrective masks are, maybe if you get one with your prescription it would be better? Or wearing contact lenses? I used to dive with contact lenses before I got my eyes lasered... It is definitely worth it And thank you very much! It's great to see my words here

That's about as thorough a write up of Death Valley as I've ever seen. It is a very desolate place and the temperature extremes are amazing. In one late winter day we went from snow to 115 F. The heat, especially in the summer, is dangerous. Don't visit in the summer. Visit it in the winter. The scenery is beautiful and it's definitely worth seeing.

I saw the first one, the mother, on the cutline. Then they started coming out of the bush on both sides. There was also a male a few hundred yards up, so too far to get him into the picture as well. Just goes to show you that the animals can thrive along side oil and gas.

It's good news for travelers and for Denmark. It shows budget travelers do contribute too. I haven't been to Denmark yet but I thought Sweden was very reasonable. Now Norway is pricey, but its so well worth seeing.

I've flown Icelandair several times. The fares are reasonable but there's nothing exceptional about the flight experience except the opportunity to visit Iceland at no extra charge. THAT is well worth doing!

A small taste of self indulgence. Reminds me of a TV ad. "Because I'm worth it" On a First Class BA flight from London - San Francisco the only problem I had was staying awake. Not paying all that money for a good sleep ! OK - I paid for a Round - the - World Ticket but the first flight was overbooked. It pays to be well dressed in economy. But I would have enjoyed the Black Forest Gateau you had instead of my French Champagne.

A reminder I used to post on other sites...when you book through an agency, with OTA or brick-and-mortar, the next step is to ask them for the airline locator number (that 6-digit string that goes on your reservation). With that code, go to the airline's site and search for your reservation...doesn't matter if you didn't book it with them directly, you'll be able to find it with the code and your name. If not, call the airline! The reason for all this is to make sure that the agency did its...

Since one of the benefits of a window seat is something to lean on while (trying to be) asleep, the extra headrests look good to me... Also, the idea of using the space under the seat in front rather than the lap space of the seat behind seems worth exploring!

I suspect it's going to look quite a bit different "as built," since I notice that in the picture, the water runs right to the edge, and one side hasn't even a place to sit! By the time it's done, there will need to be an ugly wall to keep bathers in, and keep water from splashing pedestrians below. At ten stories above building walks and parking lots, I'm not sure the view down through the pool will be worth it, either.

I like these set taxi prices because there are so many dishonest cabbies in the world. I don't mind taking train or bus if I'm not to tired, but sometimes at the end of a long journey I like to splurge on a cab to get us directly to our hotel. Much more pleasant that way and to me often worth the extra few Euros.
