Re: How do you buy your travel?

Paul Heymont ·
A reminder I used to post on other sites...when you book through an agency, with OTA or brick-and-mortar, the next step is to ask them for the airline locator number (that 6-digit string that goes on your reservation). With that code, go to the airline's site and search for your reservation...doesn't matter if you didn't book it with them directly, you'll be able to find it with the code and your name. If not, call the airline! The reason for all this is to make sure that the agency did its...

How to go from Los Angeles airport to the city

Tiffy ·
Up to 7 airports are located in Los Angeles. Here's a tip: If you plan to take an internal flight, leaving or going to Los Angeles, look carefully at the airport code. LAX is the international airport of Los Angeles, but you can also see codes like LGB for Long Beach or SNA. Beware of the airport you are going to, since not all are equally well connected. If upon arrival you plan to pick up a rental car and there’s an office there, great, but if not, sometimes private transport becomes...

A Few Thoughts on Left Luggage

Paul Heymont ·
Most of us have, at one time or another, arrived in a new city too early to check in at hotel or Airbnb, and with no desire to drag the bags around until the afternoon. Or, we've checked out by 11 am, and need a place to leave the luggage until it's time to move on. My easy solution used to be the 'Left Luggage' service that was in nearly every city's main train station. But, over the past 20 years and especially the last 10, fewer stations have the service, or have it at impossible prices...
