The signage all over India presents marvels of interpretation for visitors and locals alike. Somewhere I have a pic of a sign down an alleyway in Tamil and English "URIN STRICKTLY PROHIBITED" �� - to no apparent effect ! Time will tell to see if this will work. In that particular area of the city, the worse offenders are usually (1)too drunk to notice until it is too late or (2) are transient. If it does work, I say that they add this special paint to all areas of the BART stations! Please! It sure is a wake up call on certain mornings!

I love visiting local markets. I try to make a point of seeing one every trip if possible. Sometimes you can pick up great gifts from these (eg. tea, spices). Another place I like to visit when I can is the local library. The quality of a library tells me a lot about a people and the values they and their government have.

WOW!! Some amazing colours and sights there DrF, So vivid it could be 3D. Shame it wasn't scratch and sniff ! I could spend all day just looking at all that fresh stuff. So much nicer than what you get in a big Supermarket. Fruit is so much nicer when you can eat it within 24 hours of plucking it off the tree.

Completely agree, Garry! Can't beat the quality of food from a Farmer's Market. Besides all the lovely produce, there are dozens of food vendors will to cook you breakfast, lunch or dinner, or make that cup of latte or glass of lemonade. Great place to spend a morning!

Dubuque is a great city and so is nearby Galena, Illinois . I've been to both several times. Dubuque has a cool railway they call the shortest and steepest in the world. It was put in by a banker so he could get into work. quicker https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenelon_Place_Elevator

Thanks guys. I loved all of New York, but this was very special. The ceilings reminded me of the ceilings you see in Europe. Sadly some people probably don't notice unless someone points it out Like I said in the post, it was the only time I felt like I was able to relax, breathe, and take in my surroundings. Definitely look forward to visiting again. Thanks again for you comments.
