Re: Is trip cancellation insurance really worth it?

Former Member ·
My elderly mother bought it when she went on a cruise. For her, it made sense because her health is not so good. She might have had to cancel and did not want to lose her deposit. The policy that she bought was specifically for trip cancellation but did not cover health issues or other unexpected issues during the trip. That policy would have covered a deposit refund but not all of them do. There are lots of different types of trip insurance so one has to ask lots of questions. As it turns...

Re: Books That Send You Packing...

There are so very many great travel tales. I am partial to non-fiction. I enjoy reading well researched, historical accounts of the human drama that is within the scenery. I enjoy writing that gives a strong sense of place and context to what I see. " The Old Patagonian Express " by Paul Theroux " The Pillars of Hercules " by Paul Theroux " Cut Stones and Crossroads: A Journey to Peru " by Ronald Wright " Basin and Range " by John McPhee " Two Years Before the Mast " by Richard Henry Dana,...

Re: Where's a Warm Spot for March

DrFumblefinger ·
Welcome, Gulliver, and two weeks will give you a nice break. I'm not sure where you're traveling from. But the south of Europe is also quite nice this time of year. Italy, Sicily, Greece are places I'd consider going, depending on what interests you and where you've traveled before. Do any of these interest you? Are you...

10 Water Sports and Their Top 5 Spots

John Peter ·
This human-made chaos is everything we want to survive this time and everything we get frustrated with. We as a mortal being are keen to watch movies in which robots are flying and changing the world or meta-humans are saving the planet earth. It indicates our want for something drastic to happen in this world, but what we are not willing to do is to leave our couch and drag ourselves out from the house to make our own life better or to save our own-self. I have always found water to be a...

One of the world's most active volcanoes has become active again. On June 7th, Kilauea, located in V olcanoes National Park , began spewing fountains of glowing lava from a lava lake in its caldera. The lava lake is about 4,300 feet (1,300 meters) wide, and the eruptions were up to 150 feet (46 meters) high. (Courtesy of Janice Wei/National Park Service via AP) You can see some terrific photos and a video clip of the volcano at the following link i f you are interested.
