Re: Dry winter shakes up Alpine ski and travel industry
You may well be right about what's in store for those ski areas; below is the Accuweather summary for this winter in Europe. It appears that those ski areas are in line for some harsh weather before winter is over, although they've already lost considerable business. Our forecast in New York is for a "snow drought," and after last year, I'm ready for one!

Re: Feb. 6, 2016: Dashing through the Snow
Looks like a good idea for a cold winters day. A gallop in the snow. Just hope there's no frozen ponds underneath. Great scenery you have - enjoy it while it lasts !

Thanks for the note, Garry! They do love a run in the snow, and no ponds underneath to worry about -- just the rare gopher hole which is just as bad! Scenery should last. Properties around us are all privately and people want to keep their trees.

I can feel the stress draining away just looking at those beautiful beasts. Amazing colours they have. I know it's nothing to do with luck . But you are a lucky man DrF. !!

I am indeed a lucky man, Garry RF! The beasts are my wife's, but she's that lovely lady leading them out for their stroll. So lucky indeed! Married over 30 years and never regretted it.

Looks like a wonderful setting to enjoy the Christmas Holidays. But to get into the European style of celebrating you should extend your Christmas through to New Year and enjoy 10 days of goodwill to all men !

Hi DrFumblefinger, it was a great time. A little cold, but the fire and the beer kept us warm, lol. Hope to get to do it again sometime in the future. Thanks for the comment.

The Snowmen of Istanbul
The February President's Week break in New York schools is one of our regular travel times, and a welcome escape from bad weather...usually. We've given up on the idea of only traveling to warm places, but we did think that Istanbul, weather forecasts and past history, would be a relief from snowbound New York. Hah!
