Car #2... I don't know what kind of Dodges you guys have up north there, but that's a Chevy Camaro in the picture. Hey, somebody tell him what year?

Re: "Spotted on the Road". Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada

DrFumblefinger ·
Yes, Mrs. Briggs. Had meant to say it's a Chevy (not a Dodge, my mistake) and you've spotted it as a Camaro. But still don't know it's year and still not sure what that great Hemi is attached to. Canadians pretty much have the same cars as Americans do. Except they all have good engine block heaters and mandatory running lights.

My thoughts Car # 1 1967-68 Dodge Charger with a 426 Hemi. Not necessarily aftermarket - you could get it as an option. The high rise and the blower were added. They came with dual quads. Car # 2 Most likely 1969 Camaro Super Sport (SS) Coupe. 396 engine. What's special about these beauts ? > They are worth a lot of money these days $ 30 K - $ 40 K.

Re: "Spotted on the Road". Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada

Dave B. ·
The black car is a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. You can tell it's a '70 by the line across the middle of the grille and the shape of the front-fender running lights. R/Ts only came with two engine choices - the 375 HP 440 cubic inch or the 425 HP 426 Hemi. The second car is a 1969 Camaro. It appears to be an SS, but that's pretty easy to clone. Can't wait to see what you came up with in Cuba!

Good choice Dr Fumblefinger. I like them all, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be a tie between the 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle and the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS.

Wow...that is one tough old car. I can't help but be impressed that this old car is still on the road, especially if the engine looks half as bad as the body. They don't make them like this anymore. By the way Dr Fumblefinger, to answer your above question, I believe this is a 1974 Chevrolet Impala, or at least what's left of it.

Re: Classic American Cars #1

Dave B. ·
Too easy... 1953 Chevrolet sedan. It appears to have Bel Air trim, but it's been altered. The three chrome 'teeth' have been removed from the front grille, the stainless trim around the windshield is gone and the 'Bel Air' script is missing from the rear door - plus, there are several other small changes.

Re: Classic American Cars #3

Dave B. ·
I was hoping that someone else would jump in with an ID, but I guess that's not going to happen. This one is a 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air sedan. When I first saw it, I thought it might be the other side of Car #1, as the '53 and '54 have the same body and it's easy to interchange trim. After taking a closer look, though, it is a different car (outside mirrors were the key...). As with the first two cars, all the 'letter' script appears to have been removed from this one - kinda strange, in my ...

Re: Finding Reiner #6: Frozen Grave

GarryRF ·
As you've seen in the Great Escape, taking prisoners into the forest and killing them wasn't just a Russian idea. It was used against the Allied POWs by the SS. But there were many allied airmen shot down over Germany who returned home after the war with life saving surgery by the "enemy" Metal plates fitted to the skull where the bone had been shot away I remember. Shall I send an email to your website Whitney ?
