What a beautiful park! I like that you appreciated the rain as "impressionist paintings."

You've caught the soul of the park in these photos Paul. Reminds me of some of my best travel pix. I too have a Lady walking some 100 yards in front of me too. My wife and I enjoy our "solo" vacations during the day while I take photos - and meet up later because its raining.

Parc des Buttes Chaumont, Paris: A Park with a Past

Paul Heymont ·
Like so many of the great parks, Paris' Parc des Buttes Chaumont, seems to be at one with nature, or even to be nature itself. But while this park is beautiful, and a favorite of Paris families in the northeastern part of the city, it has a...

Re: Zur letzten Instanz, Berlin, Germany

Odd you should have that experience of finding it closed... It was truly our "last instance" in Berlin in 2009, and we enjoyed a dinner there and then a walk in the area (just east of Alexanderplatz)...enough so that we wanted to include it in our trip last summer. Our first attempt was for an afternoon lunch (not on Monday!) only to find a note on the door that they were closed for the afternoon. We then made a dinner reservation for the following day (again our "last instance" as we were...

That guy Napoleon had a lot of sins to answer for. He wanted total domination of Europe - like Adolph Hitler - but the French regard him as a hero. Unlike his more modern 20th Century counterpart. So I suppose your morals depend on whether you're on the winning side. But as we know - no one wins. Some "Red Herrings" thrown in to put us off the scent - but an interesting chase DrF. Good one !
