Camping on the pig farm beyond the abbey in the sixties �� But loved it. A fine wee nugget of a port town that never seems to lose its charm - there's no room, unlike sprawling cousins of Scarboro, Brid and Filey

Malta and its people certainly are unique Jason. I remember well the Blue Grotto when your hands turned blue under the water. Its on my list of places I must go back to. You make it sound more tempting ! Interesting blog! Thanks !

On my first visit to Malta I was exploring the Megalithic Monuments when a group and their guide arrived. She was explaining to the folks the stones where blood sacrifices were made. So I stayed within earshot for a free tour - at a discreet distance. Then she turned and pointed at me ! " where that couple are standing is a Fertility Temple! " Whoooa !! We moved away quickly ! But too late - we had been chosen by the Goddess of Fertility ! That was on the 29 December - and on the 29...

Hello Jason and thanks for the interesting and informative post about family Malta. I am resident here myself and I agree with the family attraction side of the island. It's a fun place to visit and I do notice many families enjoying their time together.

I'm with you there...I love spectacular views as much as the next guy, but when I'm looking down a long way I feel nervous chills...add that to a swaying bridge, and I'm, well, not there!

Another "Best of Britain" survey that doesn't see beyond London. The Albert Dock in Liverpool has 6.3 Million visitors per annum - and not a mention. The Albert Dock is a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.

Glass-bottomed bridges with spectacular views seem to be a real trend these days. Germany has just opened a new one across the Geierlay canyon, and the Chinese bridge Gumbo reported on last week is so busy officials have had to cap access to it.

Set realistic expectations. This is a cute statue of a giant green man. As a retro type of road trip roadside attraction it is excellent! You are provided a ladder to climb up to the Jolly Giant feet
