How to go from Los Angeles airport to the city

Tiffy ·
Up to 7 airports are located in Los Angeles. Here's a tip: If you plan to take an internal flight, leaving or going to Los Angeles, look carefully at the airport code. LAX is the international airport of Los Angeles, but you can also see codes like LGB for Long Beach or SNA. Beware of the airport you are going to, since not all are equally well connected. If upon arrival you plan to pick up a rental car and there’s an office there, great, but if not, sometimes private transport becomes...

Basically people do tourism for...

Re: Flight Attendants favorite foods

Some of those are clearly front-of-the-plane choices! In economy, I've taken to describing the meals as sharing an important characteristic with school lunches: Everyone complains, but they're really not bad at all. Just recently, though, we had upgrades on Qatar that put us in a different food world. A la carte meals, nicely-plated and served (no plasticware!) and it may have spoiled me.

I've not done this trip, although it's floated up my destinations list and hopefully will be something we can do in a few years. You've an awful lot of travel packed into two weeks, and the only efficient way to do much of it is to rent a car. You can do it by buses and trains, but that would add days to the journey and take away from your valuable travel experiences. So while expensive, a car will help you get the most out of your travel days and with three people won't be prohibitively...

Re: 9 Delicious Foods Named After Places Around the Globe

I have often asked for Worcestershire Sauce in American Restaurants - same as I do at home in England. But have always been refused. Years later when dining with my American family I discovered that it was not called Worcester Sauce - but received its full title. It surprised me as Americans have a penchant for shortening the names of produce. I often ask for a Bud and a Big Mac on my travels. But I cant in America ! (English pronunciation for Worcestershire Sauce is Wuster Sauce)

"The problem we should have with 'colonial charm'"

Paul Heymont ·
Everywhere we go, and everything we marvel at, has a history beyond its surface, a litany of what was there before, and who lived, worked and worshiped there. But often we allow ourselves to not think about that, to marvel at the charm or beauty of what is there now, without thinking about how it came to be. Ben Groundwater, a travel writer and columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald's Traveller section reminded me of that with a stunning piece this week, based on personal experience of a...
