Not "or", DrF, AND ice cream. Guess it's been a while since you were at a kid's party? Truth be told, that cake wouldn't need any. Just cake, please.

Here's a better view of the bridge. Does this help you figure out which one it is?

Re: Where in the World is TravelGumbo? #177

GarryRF ·
Yes Rob ! I've narrowed it down to 32 possibles. If we stray into Canada - then it's somewhere near the number of stars in the sky. And that's just the Red ones ! Another 5 Days to go ......

How does a fast food restaurant help you narrow down what part of the world the bridge is located in? Figure that out and you are closer to identifying the bridge Note: This restaurant is still quite a distance from the bridge but it is a valuable clue

The place seems extravagantly overdone. Might you be visiting a brothel museum somewhere? The home of a Sultan? I can't tie the clues together.

Not a theater at all, but very theatrical in appearance. Concerned in a way with sinfulness, but never a brothel. Here's the 4th clue...

It seems too narrow tobe a church, but I would guess that it is in Europe.

Looks like a small chapel. I'd say Europe too. Reminds me of a ceiling in Einsedeln, Switzerland.

The Puzzler really hopes to hear more today from the guessers...this usually works best when folks trade questions, hints and more. Today's clue shows another side of the church that is the answr to "Where in the World is TravelGumbo?" It's a stained glass window that is very modern in style, and contains a significant historic reference (as do several others in the building).

Re: Where in the World is TravelGumbo (#125)

Must be Germany. Old Albert had much to say about war. This reminds me of another stained glass window in the Grace Cathedral. The world was much in need of peace that year.

Re: Where in the World is TravelGumbo? (#45)

PortMoresby ·
I think this is on Wall St, NYC. They began putting the finishing touches on the building and were almost done, fall of 1929, and by the time they got to the one on the right, they'd run out of money. Years later, when they could have finished it, they called it a great example of art deco and left it that way.

Well, it's Saturday night, and time for a review of progress so far, guys! Yes , a bank. Yes , a big time gap between the two sculptures. No , not in Rome, San Francisco, New York. Free Hint: It's not in North America.

By e-mail, PortMoresby suggested this answer: I haven't seen these details anywhere, but because of some other similarities and the date, I'm going to say the Bank of England, London. " 1925-1939 Sir Herbert Baker Between 1925 and 1939 he demolished what had become known as 'The Old Bank' or 'Soane's Bank' (then regarded as one of London's architectural gems) and built a new headquarters for the Bank on the same 3 ½ acre Theadneedle Street site." Unfortunately, not the right answer! ONE MORE...
