Take your seat...while you still have one!

Paul Heymont ·
Aircraft designers are always busy trying to figure out the best way to get the most passengers in without actually provoking revolt or suffocation...and the past few days bring fearsome news on that front. Included in the roundup are dead-serious proposals to stack seats in the main cabin, to sell passenger space in the hold below the cabin, and even to squeeze business-class seats into a 12-across configuration. Not even the rich, it seems, are immune to the trend. The stacked-seat idea...

Boeing cashes in on big China order for 737 MAX

Paul Heymont ·
Boeing, which is racing Airbus for shares of the huge Chinese market for new planes, got a significant boost yesterday with an order for 110 more 737s, 80 of them the new 737 MAX that is just entering production, for China Southern Airlines and a subsidiary. China's government aircraft manuracturer and Boeing signed a deal 3 months ago for Boeing to build a final assembly plant in China for 737s. Presumably that plant was a factor in the order and at least some of the planes will be...

Re: More Dreamliners for USA flights

Jonathan L ·
I recently rode the 787 for the first time. i was very impressed. its 3-3-3 configuration felt roomy and there was plenty of leg room in economy. I also liked the tinted windows instead of the shades. Also it had the biggest toilets I have seen since the 747 and the old L1011's.
