Re: Visiting Western Greenland. Part I – Three Towns
Dr Fumblefinger : Happy to answer questions. Kangerlussuaq is fairly basic by comparison to what we're used to though I love the town and feel at home there now! It's a converted US airbase basically! (Can't browse to my photos from Insert/Edit Image button above?) Accommodation : airport hotel (good standard), campsite (very basic), private accommodation hire options exist though I've not used them in this town - as I'm also part of a wild goose research team, I can stay at the science...

Re: Jan. 7, 2016: The Biggest Hotel in the World! Could you be the First Guest ?
I just read a rather detailed Wikipedia piece on this, and it really has a fascinating history. During the war, it was used for military purposes, including a hospital, and to house refugees from the bombing of Hamburg. After that, it's had a long history both of military use and various authorities trying to figure out what to do with it. Its neighbors weren't happy with a 2008 plan to turn it into a super-resort, and it seems that at present 4 buildings have been turned into apartments and...

Re: 6 Things you must consider when hiring Luxury car rental for Delhi Tour
Does it actually make sense to hire a car for travelling around Delhi itself? Taxis, tuk-tuks, or the metro might often be more sensible choices. The latter obviously has limitations in terms of the places you can reach easily, but at least you don't get stuck in Delhi's horrendous traffic!

Re: 7 Reasons to Book a Luxury Hotel for Your Next Travel
I cannot agree with some of your statements. For instance, I remember a trip to Southern India where we met another couple who had booked the same private tour, but they had gone for the significantly more expensive luxury option whereas we had chosen home-stays. They were actually envious because our guesthouses tended to be in lovely spots right in the middle of the action, while their 5-star concrete bunkers were often in sterile out-of-town locations - and lacked any character. We...

When I saw this, I coudn't help but think of think of a teen who used to post on Frommers about luxury travel. I'll bet he'd love to stay at one of these rooms. I'm wondering also if some in the middle class aren't choosing to stay at lower end places and save their travel budget?

Re: Calling Marie Antoinette: Your $75G-a-night suite is ready!
I have to say that although I could afford to go up a bit, I always look first at the low-end because while the rooms tend to be small, they have the needed facilities, and are more likely to have the wifi and breakfast free. Why pay more; it looks the same in the dark. Different for a resort, I guess... Never been unhappy with an Ibis in Europe, or the Motel 6/Super 8/Comfort Inn type here. I'd rather spend the difference on good food...
