Well, here's another I would have included in the original post—except I didn't remember I had it! Unintentionally ironic or not...it speaks up for a local guy in an unusual way!

That's a fun piece, PHeymont! I, too, have noticed larger numbers of whimsical statues. The city this struck me in the most was Bratislava, in Slovakia. For example, here's their "Men at Work" And here's one that's a tribute to shutterbugs like you and me.

Rob, if you're suggesting that the entire thing was staged to meet the Fraulein in the above photo, then I'd say well planned!

I don't think he staged it, but I do think he wasn't searching too hard for the car after he met the lady. And that would make a nice story if they got married. If he wanted to find the car quick, he would of called his bank or credit card issuer to see the location of his first try to get his money and started his search from there.

Re: Strictly for the Birds...

Paul Heymont ·
While searching for some other photos, I came across these two that might have joined the birds above. One is a scene of well-mannered pigeons on a rail at the Musee Rodin in Paris, perhaps waiting their turn to annoy diners in the garden cafe; the other is yet another of those ironic meetings of statue-fied dignity with feathered pit stop...

If they're interested, I think the Norwegian authorities could run the vacant cells as AirBnB units. Might be very profitable.

Re: Van Gogh Museum takes a new look at Vincent

DrFumblefinger ·
The Van Gogh Museum is one of the most interesting art museums I've ever visited. Basically it's the collection of Vincent's brother, Theo, an art dealer who saw his brother's potential and who helped support him by purchasing his paintings. Around half of the art Van Gogh created is in this museum and with this fresh look, it's definitely a "Must See" for folks coming to Amsterdam.
