Re: Laguardia Gets a Little Love from the Guv
Good news! Please come back and let us know when it's done. By then Airbnb may have helped sort out the NYC short-term rental market confusion and I can begin planning a visit. I'd love to visit but dread both LGA & hotel prices.

Re: Flood of new agents to speed up Customs at JFK and Newark
You're both right of course. No one has the moral high ground on delays. When you transit an airport with several terminals you do need to enter the country first. But hub airports like Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bahrain have all been so polite and helpful it makes you realise that there is a better way. I use Philadelphia airport now to enter the US. It rates alongside Orlando as a pleasant experience. Last year I went through passport control in Philly. When asked, I told the officer that...

Re: Help with Provence Itinerary
Good point, and sent me scurrying back to the Airbnb details page—and fortunately, there's on-premise parking. That's good, because we're picking up the car at Avignon TGV at about 8:40. An earlier train would be more expensive and less pleasant... We're staying at a hotel in Marseille that's just at Gare St-Charles, and considered picking the car up there...but decided that leaving central Marseille in the rush hour might not be our favorite thing...and also adds about 54€ to the rental for...

Credit Card Car Rental Insurance Options
I know auto rental insurance is not usually a good deal if you purchase it at the car rental place at the time and different credit cards already include the coverage if you book the rental with the card. I was made aware of the American Express Premium Car insurance available for AMEX cardholders and a few features make me think it might be worth the cost over their free coverage. First, it's considered primary coverage and you won’t have to file a claim with your insurance company first if...

Car Rental: Making it a bit easier
One of the worst moments in travel, for me, is getting there, getting off the plane, getting the bags, and then waiting forEVER at the car rental counter. I usually rent from Hertz, unless the price difference after my discount is big, and the main reason is Gold service that lets me bypass the counter, get in the car and go. Other companies have similar 'membership' arrangements. But I just found that it's worth checking around if you're renting from not-your-regular company; things are...
