He's much smaller than I thought -- and I'm talking about the height of the little guy. Besides chocolate their tinkling mascot, the Belgiums also love beer and comics. I was quite surprised at what a comic book culture they have.

I think I'd have to take a knife and fork to that soup ! Looks delicious - how was it ? Did it have you searching for the antacid tabs ? I couldn't eat a main meal after tackling that soup.

It was delicious. It's what I go there for, while my wife eats platters of shellfish. The broth is rich and sweet with caramelized onion, the cheese is excellent...and yes, it's not just spoonfood! And, as you suggest, soup of that kind IS a meal, not an appetizer! I had a salad with it, but no main.

I have been enjoying Dr Fumblefinger's recent posts on the Idaho panhandle. I visited it 5 years ago staying at the very comfortable Lodge at Sandpoint hotel, beside Lake Pend Oreille. Travelling from Canada, the road passes Bonner's Ferry, where my wife assures me there is a superb quilt shop. We also came across a bald eagle just beside the road about half a mile north of the border crossing.

Thank you for your comment and pictures, Rod. We have terrific sunsets in the panhandle, and I see bald eagles flying around almost every day. When things normalize, you'll need to leave your cozy home in England and come visit my wife and I in our new abode.

Two of Brussels’ most famous obsessions—chocolate and the famous Maneken-Pis stature of a small boy urinating—are caught in one picture of a chocolate shop featuring endless sizes and flavors of the statue.
