Re: Miami or Orlando to Brussels : $324 Round Trip

If your looking to get to Europe for the holiday season on the Dreamliner cheap, this deal is too good to pass up. From Brussels, it's normally pretty cheap to get to Paris,London or Amsterdam.

The Harry Potter collection has also boosted the number of younger folks that are reading books. That's got to be a bonus ! Kids here in the UK say there's so much more detail in the books than the films. Got to be better than "Blob dodging" on a computer screen !

I am not sure if an employee working in tourism in NYC would have a higher quality of life even if paid more. Orlando at least is cheap. Also many folks in the tourist trade make a lot of their earnings from tips which rarely are fully reported as income. So I never know what to make of studies like this

Re: Visitor Totals: The "Ears" Eat the "Apple"

DrFumblefinger ·
Interesting piece, Paul. I believe that both are actually drawing more people than Paris (France) is as well. I don't see much of an overlap in the target populations these cities draw from. Orlando is very clearly family-oriented, with multiple theme parks. More of a budget destination, although with admissions at the parks being what they are, not that cheap anymore. New York City a big cosmopolitan attraction. Most folks would consider it too expensive for "family travel".

I think Orlando is a big pull for overseas travelers as well, which bodes well for them. Length of stay is an issue, especially, for New York; I think we get people on a shorter stay because of the cost. For overseas travelers, I think NY and Orlando are often both on the agenda, based on the questions I used to see on other boards!
