Scenes from the Bowron Lakes, British Columbia

Bowron Lakes Provincial Park in British Columbia offers a wonderful experience for those who like canoeing.  A string of lakes is shaped in a roughly circular fashion, connected by rivers and short portages.  The lakes offers a peaceful opportunity to take in some of the gorgeous unspoiled scenery of the east-central B.C. (not far from the Alberta border), without the noise of motorized boats or traffic.

The canoeing circuit is 116 km long and at a comfortable pace takes the better part of a week (or more) to complete.  Primitive campsites are available and if one is looking for a natural experience, it’s hard to beat.  The circuit is well known for it’s excellent moose-sightings.  One of my favorite memories was hearing wolf-song almost every night while in my tent.
